PPG was commissioned by the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) to evaluate the economic impact and effectiveness of the Future Female Entrepreneurs Program (FFEP 3.0), a pioneering national initiative addressing Australia’s persistent gender gap in entrepreneurship.

PPG conducted an independent evaluation to assess program outcomes across two key initiatives: the Academy for Enterprising Girls (ages 10-18) and Enterprising ME (ages 18+). Our analysis demonstrated the program’s significant value in building entrepreneurial pathways for women and girls, while generating substantial economic returns.

Key findings

  • $55 million in net economic benefits from Academy for Enterprising Girls with every dollar invested generating $22 in economic returns
  • 23,000+ students engaged across three program phases, with participation from rural/remote areas increasing from 6% to 33% in FFEP 3.0
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation grew to 7%, up from 2% in the previous phase
  • 84% of girls would recommend the program, with entrepreneurial knowledge increasing by 24% and confidence to pursue STEM/entrepreneurship rising by 13%
  • 17,000+ women connected through the Enterprising ME platform, with AccelerateHER workshops achieving a 9.2/10 satisfaction score
  • Up to $713 million in potential gross economic benefits from Kickstarter Challenge participants

Our evaluation also provided strategic recommendations to strengthen program reach, including expanding funding for regional delivery, enhancing partnerships with First Nations schools, and implementing structured follow-up mechanisms to track long-term entrepreneurial outcomes. These insights have positioned FFEP to scale its impact and advance gender equality in Australia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem
